Erie was Erie
I have to say I am in no way sorry that the Central Division on Detroit River is over. Lake Erie is just not a fishery I have ever had much success at. I had my hopes that my second visit would turn out much different but as the old saying goes "It was what it was". I can say that I prepped ...
Well, today was the first day of the FLW Stren Central Tour on Kentucky Lake. All through practice I kept telling my self it was about the points to make it to the FLW Stren Championship in November. I caught exactly what I had caught through practice each day , 10lbs. The fish are scattered and not like they were when we were here before. I just kept saying its about the points until I weighed in, a young boy ran up to me and asked for an autograph. He said ‘I want to be a Pro when I grow up.” I couldn’t help but grin. I knew right than that” This is what its about“. As a Pro you come off the water hot, frustrated, tired and sometimes disappointed. Than you have a young person look at you and say,” This is what I want to do someday”. You are a role model. They look at you as some one who is above the rest and you can’t help but to feel lucky. Lucky for the 10 lbs you got today, the life that you live tournament to tournament and lucky to have an oppertunity to be a part of this great sport.I gave him an autograph but Jayden here is some advice,” Fish all you can and Never give up on your dream“. Because that is exactly what it takes to be a Pro. Never Giving Up…… Always Fishin
My first day on Kentucky Lake I did alot of scouting and very little fishing. The weather was great blue skies, hot but the wind made it a perfect day for just trolling around. After hours of looking I thought I might try my hand at flipping a few docks. I started at the first one and pitched in. As soon as my bait was retrieved and before I looked up I heard a splash. Directly across from me was a boy about twelve on the bank. He had pitched in and was working his bait. I sure didn’t want to intrude on the young angler’s spot. I trolled on down, set my sight on the next dock. Pitched and reeled in I heard another splash. The young angler had run to my next dock casted right behind me. Now I am trying to pre fish here and alot of other anglers would have been real put out. Me ,I saw myself not on the boat as Professional but there standing on that bank when I was his age. Praying I could out fish that big shot Pro in the boat. I almost wished that young angler would of caught a fish and I hadn’t. What a story that would of been for him. I caught a few and made sure I held them up for him to see. Wished him luck and sped off. I thought about that boy as I left ,it was as if I left my younger self on that bank. I can only hope that boy dreams big and his dreams come true. I am living mine and its all good………always Fishin
Man it feels like a year since I was on the road. I know that sounds nuts. When you live like I do tournament to tournament if your in one place to long you feel like your missing something.
I am headed to Kentucky Lake for the Stren Central Division. This tournament was originally set for Mississippi River but was cancelled because of the flooding. I was on Kentucky Lake back in April. I am pumped. I can’t wait to get back at the game. Being a Professional Angler is like an addiction, your not only addicted to fishing but the competition of the sport. I am ready.
I will keep you updated and posted on the good Ole’Kentucky Lake.
Stren Central Division kicks off July 23-26 you can catch a live feed for weigh in and leader-board at flwoutdoors.com

Ok folks, This is Heather, I dont get to write often but this is a very special post from me.
You see on any given day Cody leaves the house for his daily fishing early and stays out till dark. That is a long time for me to be on the water, but last Saturday I went for it. We loaded up the drinks and Heidi (our dog) and left out. Now I have fished with Cody and caught fish before but he blew me away. I caught a lot of fish, (as they say ) He Put Me On Them. I was reeling and yes Cody Malone was netting my fish. I always love watching Cody catch fish, but today I felt like a Pro myself. I know I can’t take all the credit because if you dont have a Good Guide you won’t catch fish, at least not Like I caught.
Man has the year gone by. July always bring that good old Texas heat and a lot of boaters to the water. Some boaters are fishing but a lot of them are recreational boats pulling skiers.
With rigs now ready to run 75mph or more I want to take this opportunity to say “Be careful out there. If the lake is crowded just slow down and keep your eyes open.”A lot of anglers are annoyed by these recreational groups, but I look at this way as a pro I am on the water 325 days out of the year winter, spring ,summer, and fall. These guys are just out in the summer and than they go back into hiding until the dog days of summer appear again. As a bass angler be safe and watch out for them.Summer only lasts for a few months. Take to the lake and enjoy what ever your thing happens to be.
Reminder if your headed to Lake Fork check with Hook Line and Sinker for a room or give me call for guide trip. I can give a day full of bass right now.
